College is definitely different than high school. If anything, it'd be the homework load and standard of work. I'm into my 5th week at CSUMB, I think it's the 5th week, but any ways, the work load is starting to build. I have a midterm next Wednesday in calculus...which I'm SCARED to death about. I gotta start to really study now. Review what we've covered in class and such. Essentially what I've been doing is completing my homework which we turn in once a week and getting by in that, okay. I'm not sure my math teacher likes me too much too. Or maybe he does, but he just seems like he doesn't? I have no clue, all I know is I get a funny look and attitude when he's around me or helping me. Or maybe that's the way he is? Who knows. FYS is goin' okay, but on top of our normal assignments we have a group project and a project of our own to do. Two projects at once...how much does that suck? ;- Tech Tools is okay. I gotta start working on my stuff for the next deadline. I turned in my work for the deadline this Thursday almost two weeks early and I haven't heard ANYTHING, yet, about those. I e-mailed the teacher to ask, though. It kind of worries me...because if there's a problem with any of them I have to work REALLY fast to get them returned in on time...The next set of stuff is pretty easy. It's a bibliography, research question, excel, and something else. I also need to start learning DreamWeaver for my webpage. I just have to make a BASIC website, though, which is good.

Work is going well too. My boss had me working 4 days in a week, which was a bit hard for me, for a while, but I'm back to 3 days now. Work is still going good and such. *shrugs* I'm getting better at finding things in the store, but I'm still having to ask someone about once a day where something could be, but I'm getting better at figuring it out for myself. I've had a few people "take my name." I could be starting my own fan club...a lot of the sellers get that from people they help well. I got to talk to Ron Dias on the phone, who is an illustrator for Disney. He seems like a nice guy and he's done a LOT of the Disney books that people recognize. It's amazing. I also got a photographer to sign a few posters for me that he took the pictures for. He does the photos for the Salinas Air Show and such. The say the least, this last week at work was very interesting for me.

Aquarium is goin' good still. I'm taking off this comin' Sunday to study for my math midterm, since that night I'm working. It's promo night at work, so...we'll see. The white shark is the biggest thing there. It's still doin' well too. Been feeding pretty well and low stress level on her. It HAS brought a TON of visitors to the aquarium lately since she's the only great white shark on display in the entire world. The aquarium is also 3 days off from the record of keeping a great white in captivity too. I have entirely mixed feelings about having one on display. I think it's great and a good educational tool, but I dunno.

Any ways, MUST GO! Gotta get back to the homework. Latas

Oh, and I found a phone cover, btw. Got it at Cingular phone station-thingy at the mall in Salinas. Cost me like $25... *grumbles* There was a sales tax, state tax, and city tax. HOW stupid is THAT?! Bleh, but I got my phone cover, which is good for me.

I'm also making a Christmas list already, weird huh? But at least I'll REMEMBER what I wanted when Christmas time comes closer! I do say, though, gift certificates to Borders will solve so many things... It seems like as I get older the stuff I want gets more expensive...well...excluding CDs and DVDs. Oh well. Who knows?

DEFINITELY it for now.
Oh GOODNESS! I didn't update saying I got my COMPUTER and iPOD...what's the world coming to? Yeah, I got my computer and iPod. I sold my 5GB iPod to a family friend for a $100, so with that money and the rebate...I got my 20GB iPod for free. I still have to send in that rebate too. Gotta remember that...But yeah, I love my computer...comes in handy a lot. I can do my school work anywhere now and it's just nice over all, especially the wireless Internet.

Okay, that's all now!
WELL! I haven't updated in a LONG time.

I might as well begin in the point of...I got promoted at work after a month or so. Been working as a Seller now for...about 2 weeks, I think. Time seems to be running away from me is all I have to say. So I get paid 50 cents more an hour than being a cashier. It's pretty fun. I walk a LOT more now because of customers and such and I know the store definitely better. I can take orders and such too. It's kind of interesting, but fun also.

That's all that's really been happening for me lately. I can't say much else interesting has been happening. School is going okay. I'm studying real calculus now, derivatives and such. Lab is going okay too, though sometimes it takes more than 2 hours to complete what he has for us to do. First year seminar (FYS) is going okay too. I'm getting to know the students better and I feel like I have "friends" now in that class. Calculus, I'm SLOWLY beginning to get to know people in my calc lab, not so much in my actual class though. Tech tools (CST) is also going all right. I am taking it independently, and I turned in my first 4 assignments today also. Took some time to figure out some things, getting picture sizes from MB to KB was interesting, but I got it done. I haven't really joined clubs or anything since I'm still trying to get use to college and working at the same time. One or the other would be fine, but both at the sametime isn't the greatest.

I think that's all that's going on for me. I'll update some other time I find the time, deem it important, or purely bored.

Well...I'm surviving my first week of college. Calculus is all review, atm, and I only have homework due once a week! How cool is that?! I'm really excited about that. My professor originally was from UC Santa Barbara and taught there for 6 years. He's, so far, has been a really good teacher and pretty fun. I dropped Tech Tools, the class, and I'm taking the assessment, which is basically an independent study sort of thing. It's going to prove "difficult" in the manor that I'm going to have to self-teach myself somethings, and pick my own "topics" for my portfolio, but it shouldn't prove TOO hard. I have 4 weeks to complete 4 assignments. The first is word processing on Microsoft Word. I have different requirements I have to fulfill in the paper that has to be at least 1500 words. I'm thinking of revising one of my school papers to fit its needs. The 2nd assignment is a spreedsheet. I have to use a MINIMUM of 100 cells! What in the world, data wise, am I going to use that utilizes at least 100 cells?! I have to write a little thing on it explaining what the data tells me. *rolls eyes* I also have to make my on formulas, which I haven't done ever before. First Year Seminar isn't bad either. It's basically a get-to-know-the-campus-and-students class. That's where I'm really getting to know some other students and such. Overall...I say it's been a good week! I have my calculus lab tomorrow.

Working and doing school has been a little rough on me. I'm closing 3/4 times when I work, so that wears me down the next day, but luckily that's night class! Work is still going good, but the only thing is...I'm ill! I've got this cold/allergy thing. *shrugs* It hasn't really gotten too bad. I'm more tired and a bit more weak, but I'm still surviving, mostly.

Lastly, I ordered my computer tonight!! 15" apple powerbook w/ DVD burner. I also did their cram & jam deal so I also got a 20gig iPod. This computer is costing me my entire scholarship money, which goes to a good cause, I suppose. HOPEFULLY, my $1500 from CSUMB is renewable each year, which I think it is. So that'll help a great deal during my stay at CSUMB. But yeah, it's going to take me till next semester (January '05) to "pay-off" my computer. I've got the money, NOW, so I'm going to take the money out of my savings and pay myself back as I get my scholarship money from various places, which is good. I just have problems with the fact I'm spending aprox. $2200 on ONE thing. Even if it is about as top of the line you can get.

Well, that's about it for now! Hope everyone is doin' well.

WHOA! Haven't updated in a while.

QUICK update:
1) I'm working 35-40 hours a week. I'm still liking my job, too! Do you know how hard it is NOT to spend your pay check at Borders THOUGH?! I get a 33% discount...
2) I start school, COLLEGE, on Monday
3) I opened a checking account today
4) Doing research on getting a laptop (Sorry, to the pc people!)
5) Working on my license, still
6) My cell phone is doin' good. I like it, but...I can't find a blasted phone cover for it that I like that's NOT on-line so I don't have to pay shipping!

7) GOOD LUCK TO ALL MY FRIENDS STARTING COLLEGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that's it...for now...I'll update whenever I get the chance again.

Oh my gosh...working is a LOT of work... Or, well, opening is. Standing on your feet from 3-4 hours at a time, isn't the funnest, but for the most part, I like working at Borders. I've had some small blunders since starting and I'm still learning as the days go by. We're getting new cash registers tomorrow so that'll be nice! Things, hopefully, will go more smoothly and faster.

I open twice next week, and have two shifts that go in the middle of the day and I close once next week also. It's mainly the exact same schedule as this week, except on Monday I go noon to 8pm. I think Tom had pitty on me because he knows that I have the aquarium the day before till 6pm and I think he wanted to let me have a BIT of a rest, at least.

Any ways, I gotta go. Laters for now!!
