Oh...Quick notes: Borders and iPad

Borders: Ron Marshall, the former CEO of Borders, left the company for another retail company. He left just this week. He was there for a year and was known to "revive" companies. Well...apparently he even thought Borders was a lost cause. So sad. Bets on when Borders will close? I'm iffy on whether they'll make it through the year. The fiscal year ends for Borders beginning of Feb.

iPad: Seriously? First off...the name. I've seen so many feminine health product jokes about it now that I accidentally started calling it the iSlate because iPad was made fun of so thoroughly. Seriously. Mac's iPad. Thank goodness most people say "Apple" and not "Mac" or it'd REALLY be bad when saying it out loud. This was definitely a name fail for Apple. It's a shame because iSlate sounds so much cooler than iPad too. Secondly, a glorified large version of the iPod Touch. Excellent. How...original...As a user, I have no incentive to buy the iPad for $500 when I already have a laptop and iPhone. I don't need the iPad also! Okay, so the iPad is more compact and easier to carry around, read in bed, etc than a laptop and it's 3xs larger than an iPod Touch, but...I don't know. Thirdly, this is just Apple taking a punch at the Kindle, Sony e-Reader, and other e-readers. Other than being so slick that you want to buy it, there's just not a whole lot of incentive for me to buy it. With that note, I did enter myself in a drawing for one!
