Graceful as a swan

...or that's what Chris always says after I trip, stumble, or some other "graceful" action.

Last night my left toes collided with the 1 inch (I kid you not) of open drawer that was sticking out. It was bad enough that my 2nd to last toe is STILL in pain, I have a bruise on my foot and a smaller and lighter bruise on my toe. : It's much better than it was last night and doesn't feel as stiff or swollen, but it still hurts to walk. I'm kind of glad this happened last night so I could give my foot a rest all day today. I'm hoping it goes away even more tomorrow because I've got classes to walk to and from tomorrow. It hurts to the touch in some places more than others and if I bend/put too much pressure on the foot it does start to really ache. I'm hoping I won't have to see a doctor and don't think I will have to (thank goodness!).

It feels like it's Monterey here today. It's severely overcast and REALLY cold. In fact, the weather says it's colder in Santa Barbara than it is in Marina -- weird.

I think I've been reading almost this entire weekend...I've got huge documents to read for my group project (why did I want to learn about BLM's policy again?). I'm currently reading their Natural Resource Damage Assessment & Restoration Handbook. After that I have a few long economic reports to read -- one by the USGS and the other by a consulting agency written for BLM. It's all interesting and severely boring at the same time. Thank goodness there's at least some interest, though! I had to read a few nanoparticle papers this week for class and I wanted to put myself out of my misery! I think NPs are a serious issue that need to be further studied and quickly given how fast manufactured NPs are gaining in popularity, but I do not want to be involved in ANY WAY with NPs in my future. LoL I'm glad I read the papers so I have a better foundation in my knowledge, but it also showed me that NPs is one of those areas that I will never be interested in, vaguely interested in, or in any other way interested. Ugh. It was super horrible and most times I like learning about new things! I also started reading (I have another 1.5 weeks before the class starts) my environmental law supplements. The first one was about the Estai and Spain/Canada's fishing issue back in the mid-1990's. That's a seriously interesting issue regarding law in general, but also environmental law. The second supplement was about environmental ethics, which was interesting. The rest are pretty law/regulation orientated, but the class should be interesting. I am tired of sitting at my desk reading. I read on my bed, but it tends to put me to sleep. LoL

Anyway, with that...I should hit the reading again. : I have a midterm in 1.5 weeks and I need to catch up on my class reading for that too. So much reading...!

Oh, wait. Shrimp #2 had her babies and got new ones last week. It's such a continuous thing now...it's hard to keep track! I still haven't seen any signs of any babies, though. Unless my male is sterile, they're being eaten and sucked into the pump. I clean the pump and don't see any "evidence" of them, but they probably get broken down by the bacteria in the tank. My one plant is trying to take over my tank too. I have 6 shoots from it now and it's still growing more! The shoots are all in one big line attached to the parent plant too, so it's kind of funny. I'm having it grow around the back of the tank.

Oh, one more thing! Next Sat is the Kentucky Derby! I'm rootin' for Lookin' at Lucky. I like the trainer and that he's a CA based horse. He's probably my logical choice too, especially since the probable favorite was withdrawn from the Derby this morning because of filling in his leg.
