Day #5 - No laughing!

So...it's day 5 that I've lived in pain of not swallowing.

Pain wise I'm doing pretty good. I haven't taken pain meds since around 7pm yesterday. So that's not bad. I could probably use some pain meds now, but I'm over the codeine stuff. I'd rather suffer through the pain of eating (which is about to the level it was on Saturday WITH pain meds) and wait for some plain liquid tylenol (mom's going to the drugstore today). I'm not being brave, I just seriously can't stomach the thought of taking anymore of that medicine...LoL

My tongue is still sore at the back base, especially on the left. They must have done more work on the leftside because the base of my tongue hurts (so I don't chew on that side) and my left ear bothers me a lot on that side too. I may be able to eat more normal (besides the swallowing part) if my tongue wasn't so sore. I might also be able to talk better if my tongue worked too! I'm trying to keep myself hydrated as much as possible to help reduce the scabs comin' out and me bleeding. According to my nurse friend, about 5-7 days after the surgery is the most critical time on whether you'll bleed or not. So I'm forcing liquids down. Probably not enough or as much as she'd like (she said TWO liters!), but I'm forcing liquids down even though I'd rather live on bread and water for a week than try to swallow anything.

Yesterday Chris came over and we watched Tom Hank's The Terminal. It was a cute movie. I can't imagine living in an airport for like 9 months, though. LoL The only bummer about Chris coming over is he was telling work stories and they made me laugh! You use a lot of neck muscles to laugh and I simply can't laugh because it HURTS like nothing else. So I told him to STOP making me laugh and he said, "that's what I did the first few days, you're past that now." *rolls eyes* He did stop, though. Kind of ruins the funny parts when someone goes "haha...*groans in pain* ow...it hurts to laugh *groans in pain again*" It just doesn't have the same effect. :P

Well...with that...I'm off to do something other than be on my computer and watching TV. I've been minimally on my computer, but almost plastered to the TV. I've been reading, but...*shrugs*
