Day #8 - One week later

It was a week from today that I had my tonsils out and I thought I'd be much farther along in my recovery process, but...I have made it regardless!

I had a minor set back the other day because I was spotting some blood, my ears were super hurting when I swallowed, and medicine going down was burning. Not to mention, with all those things, the pain in my throat increased a bit. I was super bummed about that. I was getting better and then woke up with a different kind of pain that was more than the day before. It was a bummer.

Yesterday I took it easy and ate at THREE separate times (so proud) and had about 3 popsicles. After the morning there was no more blood that I could see and I was taking my normal liquid tylenol every 4 hours to keep the pain down and inflammation.

I still woke up once last night and had to grab my cup of water and then trucked downstairs at like 6 am to grab the ice pack for my ears, but I went back to sleep fairly fast. When I woke up today I was in a little discomfort, but as the hours went by...I was feeling pretty darn good! Thankfully, today I feel the BEST I have since last Friday in every regard. My energy level is pretty low still, but it's coming back. The pain in my ears when I swallow has lessened, and the pain in my throat has SIGNIFICANTLY gone down. It's still sore in the back middle and left side, but the right gives me almost no troubles at all. Anyway, everything feels pretty good, enough that I haven't taken any pain meds since 10 pm last night!

I still can't talk and I still eat my food so slowly that it's cold by the time I get 3/4 through it, but I don't have the same level of pain! I still swallow cautiously, contemplating whether I really need to swallow, but I'm trying to swallow more now. Large, lumpy foods still travel down pretty badly so I'm still stuck to a boring diet, but at least I'm getting better.

Onto other news...I got my new glasses today. They look almost exactly like the glasses I have now. LoL The only real difference is the frame is a little thicker, but it only has a frame at the top, the lenses are pretty small, and they're about the same color. The temple pieces are also a little thicker, but it's okay. Not totally jazzed about the thicker nose band as it looks like it's more of a "v" than my old ones, but they're more comfortable on my ears at least. The lenses are transition too. I just had to give in because there was no way I'd do clip-on sunglasses or switch them with glasses and I should wear sunglasses. LoL The new prescription is a little stronger in both eyes, but I feel it a lot more in the left eye. Then again, my left eye is much weaker than my right eye. Anyway, I'm slowly adjusting to them. Swapping between my new and old. The new ones don't give me a headache, they make me feel a bit dizzy and nauseous instead So...I wear them for as long as I can stand and then switch back to the old ones.

Anyway, with that...I'm off to rest. Going out today wore me out a little and I ate right before going out and eating wears me out. Yes, I know. It's sad that eating wears me out. LoL
